Handmade bar soap naturally has an increased glycerin content, which is great for the skin but also means that handmade bar soaps need to dry between use. Glycerin attracts water therefore when handmade bar soaps are left in standing water, the soap will breakdown quickly. To increase the lifespan of your bar soap do not allow it to sit in a dish, container, or any area in which water can pool at the bottom.
Handmade soap is best when stored in a dry place, out of the stream of water, or on a draining soap dish. This slated bamboo dish is ideal because it wicks water away from the bar, allowing it to dry properly.
